Nitty Girtty Dirt Band make a whole album of Bob Dylan covers and they don’t just do Nashville Skyline. Lada, Dinko and Hrvoje from Bambi Molesters have a new band called LHD and it fits very well with their previous work. We also check in with Tyler Bejoian and his Names. Today we start off with the new Dinosaur JR album that they call Give a Glimpse of What Yer Not. Then, Low Cut Connie stopped by Cleveland on August 26th and played some brand new songs from the upcoming album. Death Lens come from LA and they play a tune from their new album Fuck This. Surinam come from Toronto and Thee Oh Sees from San Francisco continue their furious discography with another new record. Meet Your Death come from Austin TX and they play us a Mose Allison tune If You Live. Then we also have two great new country singer-songwriters, Kelsey Waldon from Kentucky (pictured here) and Miss Tess from New York.
Our show today brings the new music from Mitski, Kate Maki and duet of Shawn Colvin and Steve Earle. We introduce the new band out of Boston Sandwich Police, that features Evan Dando of The Lemonheads, who made a surprise Cleveland show recently. Starling Electric from Ann Arbor is another new band introduced in today’s show. We also hear newly surfaced recording of Allen Toussaint which were made shortly before him passing away this year. Another tribute today is to Chips Moman, a legendary producer and songwriter in Memphis, who sadly passed away on June 13. Mojo magazine put together an interesting compilation that covers Bob Dylan’s album Blonde on Blonde song by song and we check out the contribution from Seattle’s Night Beats.
