We’re at the end of this historic crappy year. Still, there’s a good handful of albums that we kept coming back to at the Little Lighthouse. So, let’s take a look back and try to list those albums. Before the complete list of top 30 albums is complete in a week for now, let’s dig into the lower end of that list. For a crappy year, overall, the music was really good.

Today we start off with a new rocking tune by The Short Fuses from Minneapolis. Then we go to Greece and check out the new band for us Alien Mustangs. Rachel Brooke is from Michigan and we introduce her for the first time at The Little Lighthouse. Tanya Donelly, former member of Throwing Muses and Belly is back with a new project with Parkinton Sisters and she rolls out an old Paul McCartney tune for the occasion. Death Valley Girls over in LA are back with new tunes. We also introduce new music from The Budos Band.

Today we give you a bunch of sweet new tunes. We open up with a great cover of Making Time by Civics from Melbourne. Then we check out Icarus Peel and his Acid Reign over in UK. Next, we have Supercrush in Seattle and their new album. Then we continue with Tommy Marolda and his The Toms, who go back to 1979 in search for their newly rehashed material. Jack Cades from Warwick UK and Cowboys from Bloomington IN create retro sounds in modern times. We also introduce Robert Jon and The Wreck and Long Goodnight both from California, the latter one being a new project for Fernando Perdomo and the singer Chloe Dolandis.

Today we have some very interesting comebacks from two greatest rock’n’roll scenes in the world. True Sons of Thunder, a Memphis super-garage-group is back with the new record, and so are the legendary trio from Detroit, Demolition Doll Rods. Mr. Quintron and Miss Pussycat from New Orleans also have a new record and so does the super-trio Fuzz with Ty Segall, Charles Moothart and Chad Ubovich. We also check out new singles for Outacontroller, Gyasi and Harp Explosion. We introduce Tyler Keith and The Apostles for the first time at the show. Great archival material is also out, by Red Lights (a Jeffrey Lee Pierce band) and the lost album by The Last.

Good songwriting today! We have new music by Sarah Harmer and Eamon McGrath, both from Canada, Adam Weiner and his Low Cut Connie on a new album. We also have one of the most legendary ones: Bruce Springsteen. Talking about legends, John Mayall has just celebrated his 86th birthday with a new single, collaborating with Buddy Miller. Willie Nile had a good record this year and there’s also a tribute organized in his honor. Shemekia Copeland has a lovely new feminist cover of Under My Thumb.
