Bernays PropagandaIt’s the last show of 2018! Today we start a little heavy. Machine comes from The Netherlands and Biblical is from Toronto, Canada. Both bands play hard rock. Then we introduce a humorous new band from Knoxville, TN, Ex-Gold. Constant Mongrel are new to us, but we know Kill Devil Hills really well. Both bands come from Australia and have new records out. Over in Macedonia, Bernays Propaganda is back with a new EP, featuring Mike Watt. And also on the same label, Balkan Veliki, we introduce Rade Jordanovski. We close the show with three new acts from UK: Broken Soundtracks and Laish. Groovy Uncle is back with a new record.

Broadway ZydecoToday we start off with the new song from a brand new album of the band that we really love here, Faux Killas. We also introduce Hidden Rifles, the new project lead by Matthew Wascovich and also features Norman Westberg (of Swans) and Mike Watt. Chinese Herbal Medicine is also back with the new album Alienation. The most pleasant surprise in today’s show is the new album from Broadway Lafayette, a Cajun music project that features Mick Collins, Mama Rosin and Matt Verta-Ray from Speedball Baby. The second half of the show is filled with interesting stuff from the Balkans. We feature releases from the Canadian label Ill In The Head Records which specializes in Yugoslavian music. They have currently two releases on vinyl, Bernays Propaganda remix record and The Marshmallow Notebooks debut. From Croatia, we have the new stuff from San Mikulec and his Snooze In Motion and a very special collaboration between Branimir Živković of Overflow and Zvonka Obajdin of Svemir. Finally, we play some new and rare old tunes from the legendary PeÄ‘a VraneÅ¡ević of Laboratorija Zvuka.

June MillingtonOne of the more surprising reunions that happened in recent days is the reunion of the 70s all female band called Fanny, lead by June Millington. Their new album Walked The Earth sounds very fresh. We also check out the new album for Dan Finnemore. He used to be with Low Cut Connie, but now he has a new band Swampmeat Family Band. Hyperactive Vasko Atanasoski who used to be in Bernays Propaganda has a new band with Deni Krstev called My Tear. Juliana Hatfield announced a new album of Olivia Newton John covers with a cool cover of Physical. We also check out the new album from Canada’s Sloan. New introductions are Sufis from New York and Nashville, Stars Explode from Chapel Hill, NC, Andrew Bryant from Mississippi and Ross Cooper from Lubbock, TX.

Best of 2015We start today with the countdown to my list of favorite albums in 2016. Today we cover positions 35-14. It doesn’t mean that these any worse than the ones we will put in top 13, it’s just a matter of personal taste. This year was not an easy one, but it brought us some records that will stay with us for many years I think. In this bottom end of the list you will find two bands that did really well in our list last year, with their new albums (Datura4 and Faux Killas). Some of the old friends returned (Ray Mason, Descendents, Westerberg, Jonathan Richman, Javier Escovedo and Apache) and there are a few records from what used to be Yugoslavia (Bernays Propaganda, Thee Melomen, Erotic Biljan).
