The Best of 2019 Pt 2; Flashlite #569

2019pt2

Happy new year, everyone. Today we finish the list of best albums in 2019 (top 13). In my opinion, Danny and the Doorknobs return album Jukebox in the LA River stands out in it’s playful quality among the rest of this year’s production. The band also released another digital only album as Trotsky Icepick this year, making a double whammy for all those who were thirsty for their sound since the breakup in the 90s. Our hope is that the band will stay together for many more years to come. Tune in next week for our part 3 where we introduce many nice mini albums (shorter than 30 minutes) and a few other albums that didn’t make the list.

Enco LesićToday we spend some time listening to the records that came out earlier this year, only we somehow did not represent yet. There’s a new band from LA called Criminal Hygiene with the self titled effort and we check it out now, even though it has been sitting on the shelf for some time. English rocker Hipbone Slim and Mama Rosin collaborator also has a record from a few months ago called Go Hog Wild. We also have some brand new stuff – the new EP for Kevn Kinney’s Drivin’ N’ Cryin’ and a new track from Rain Parade’s Matt Piucci. In the end, we pay a tribute to the legendary singer from Memphis, Bobby Blue Bland. One the most interesting characters from the Yugoslav rock scene Enco Lesić also passed away, so we pay a tribute to him as well.

Mega City Four – Start;
Matt Piucci – Beautiful Flower;
Rain Parade – Depending On You;
Kevn Kinney – In the Land (Of Things That Used to Be);
Drivin’ N’ Cryin’ – The Psychedelic Time Clock;
Mama Rosin – Sittin’ on top the world;
Hipbone Slim And The KneeTremblers – Crawl Back To Me;
Bobby Blue Bland – I Woke Up Screaming;
Bobby Blue Bland – St. James Infirmary;
Idoli – Amerika;
Indexi – Sve Ove Godine;
fIREHOSE – The Candle And The Flame;
Hüsker Dü – In A Free Land;
Bob Mould – In a Free Land (Live in CLE);
Criminal Hygiene – Summertime in October;
Mega City Four – Stop.
