Judy Dyble

Today’s show is dedicated to the wonderful Judy Dyble, the founding vocalist of Fairport Convention and the early singer for the band that grew into King Crimson. She passed away from lung cancer on July 12, this year. Other than that, we check out the new tunes from the 80s underground legends: newly reformed Divine Horsemen, Smudge, Dream Syndicate and The Jayhawks, including their renegade member Mark Olson, with his most recent partner in crime, Ingunn Ringvold. Cherry on top are newly discovered vault music from possibly some of greatest rock’n’roll bands in the history: The Rolling Stones, The Replacements and a project of the Yardbirds members Keith Relf and Jim McCarty called Together. If this doesn’t turn out to be a great listening, then nothing you ain’t a true rocker.

Colleen GreenBilly F Gibbons from ZZ Top has a new solo record and so does Richard Thompson, the legendary guitarist of Fairport Convention. We also introduce some new names today: Dumb Punts from Melbourne Australia, Brandy from New York City and Ike Reilly from Chicago. Colleen Green is interesting, she released several cassette tapes in the past few years over in Los Angeles. As a loving tribute to John Wicks who passed away on October 7th, we play two songs by The Records. War on Women are live in Cleveland.

Julie ChristensenToday we have a somewhat acoustic oriented show. The mood is set by Julie Christensen and her Stone Cupid who are back with an acoustic but gritty new album. We also check out the new music from Kim Simpson over in Texas who has gone political on his new album. Judy Dyble who used to be Fairport Convention is back with a new album, actually second in a year. She’s very active recently. Ray Davies of The Kinks is also back with the second installment of his Americana series.  We introduce Jill Jackson from Scotland and Lucy And The Rats from London, although Lucy Spazzy comes originally from Australia. Dead Rock West are on our live in Cleveland segment.

Death Valley GirlsToday we hear new song by Dinosaur Jr, played live at Jools Holland show. Josh Haden is back with his new album Carolina. Our old friend Ray Mason is back with the new record Shy Requester, mostly recorded by just Ray and his guitar. Matt Z from Tyvek has a new band called Mountains and Rainbows and we check it out today. Diarrhea Planet are slowly arising from the Nashville underground into mainstream with their new slick album. Death Valley Girls is a new band from Los Angeles. We say goodbye to the legendary fiddler of Fairport Convention, Dave Swarbrick who passed away on June 6th this year.
