Mario Monterosso from Tav Falco’s band has a new Memphis based album. Introducing Hambone Skinny from Boston. We finish our show today with a not so obvious tribute to the legendary hitmaker Lamont Dozier who passed away on August 8th this year.

The Venus Flytraps

Today we have new music from Olivia Jean (Nashville), who once used to be with The Black Belles. Over in Portland, we check out the new tune from The Lovesores. Cleveland band The Venus Flytraps is new to us, and we also feature them in our Live in Cleveland segment. Altin Gün come from Netherlands, but they play Turkish rock revival like they are from Ankara. Janiva Magness has a new album with John Fogerty songs. Automatic City reissued their album Bongoes & Tremoloes with one new track. Today’s show is dedicated to Larry Wallis (Motorhead, Pink Faries) and Barrie Masters (Eddie and the Hot Rods), both notable representatives of British rock’n’roll and pub rock, who passed away recently.

John Hiatt is back with an excellent new algum called Terms of My Surrender. Also, Mark Lanegan is preparing a new record with his band, and as an advance, a new single and a live recording came out recently. Janiva Magness is an excellent blues rock singer who just recently decided to make an album of original material for her own label. In some ways, this is her most personal album ever, titled simply Original. Also, we jump to the letter “W” in our regular segment called Blues Alphabet because the news comes to us that Johnny Winter passed away on July 16 this year.

Jeannette, formerly of The Chubbies, now A Brokeheart Pro, has a new album out as well. It’s a companion to her first novel called Josephine The Outlaw King. Lee Ranaldo (ex Sonic Youth) is also back with a very nice retro styled psychedelic record called Between The Times And The Tides with a bunch of conventionally written tunes. The new names today is the blues singer with great vocal Janiva Magness, Tinko – new band from Cleveland and Pajaro Jack, Spanish alt-rock band. Kitty Daisy and Lewis are three siblings who’s mom Ingrid Weiss was in Raincoats and father Graeme Durham is a famous record studio owner and engineer from England. Rock on yall!
