Perry BaggsThis show is dominated by several new names today. First, we have the Connection – a power pop band from Portsmouth, NH. They are joined by Wyatt Funderbunk as a guest, who we also have for the first time. Then we have the Black Oil Brothers, an interesting unpretentious mixture of traditional blues and other types of art. For instance, on their site you can download a nice story of a struggling painter. Another new name are the Australian band The Murlocks. We also have some good old friends here with new music. Singing Loins are about to put out the new record called Here on Earth and David Eugene Edwards is back with another Woven Hand release. Nick Cave invited Mark Lanegan to sing on the soundtrack for the movie that he wrote Lawless.

We also say goodbye to Perry Baggs, the drummer of Jason and The Scorchers who died on July 12th this year after a long battle with diabetes and kidney problems. Last month the Scorchers, held a memorial to help cover the funeral costs. We play two songs from the Scorchers repertoire, cowritten by Baggs.

Stacie Collins Exactly ten years ago in this show we introduced a little known Italian Americana band Cheap Wine. Since then, they became a constant in our show. Recently, they put out a 2CD live album called Stay Alive, worth of two full hours of dusty rock’n’roll. I’m glad to have them still next to us. Besides this, in our show today we have the brand new collaboration between Wanda Jackson and Jack White. We also introduce the amazing harpist and singer Stacie Collins. She is lucky enough to be backed by the legendary Jason and The Scorchers. Wanda with Jack and Stacie with Warren are lethal rock’n’roll amalgams! We also introduce The Jaybirds from Salzburg in Austria – a band that belongs to a 60s retro movement that’s always fun to listen to.

The Rolling Stones – Yesterday’s Papers;
The Flamin’ Groovies – Slow Death;
Ducks Deluxe – Nervous Breakdown;
Eddie Cochran – Nervous Breakdown;
Wanda Jackson – Nervous Breakdown;
Stacie Collins – Lend The Devil A Hand;
Jason And The Scorchers – I Can’t Help Myself;
Kamo Sutra – Zamisli da kao jucer je;
Cheap Wine – Pictures;
Cheap Wine – Among The Stones;
The Jaybirds – Over Your Shoulder;
The Windbreakers – You Never Give Up;
Beat Temptation – Better Than You;
Buzz of Delight – Miracle;
Start – An Evening Such As This;
The Blazers – I Can Love You;
Tom Getter Slack – Finally Home.

Freddy Mark Linkous Today’s show is dedicated to Mark Linkous, a guy that contributed a lot to the 90s rock’n’roll with his band Sparklehorse and who committed sucide last Saturday. We pay a very special tribute in this show to Mark Linkous with an unexpected song selection. Hear Mark foot stomping with Bryan Harvey, playing with Susanna Hoffs and rocking out with his 80s band Dancing Hoods. We also have the new Roky Erickson and a new Jason and The Scorchers tune. We have a Cleveland band Whiskey Daredevils who have their debut album out these days. They have a song on it dedicated to Johnny Cash. Which reminds me, there’s the sixth volume of his American recordings out.
