Beautifully crafted new music today. Alicja Trout of Lost Sounds and River City Tanlines is back with her new band Sweet Knives. After a great new record with Divine Horsemen, Julie Christensen also announces a new solo record with music written by Kevin Gordon. Dave Gahan teamed up with Rich Machin and Ian Glover of Soulsavers for a new exciting record of covers. Julie Doiron from Montreal has a new album. Gabriella Cohen, Doug Tuttle and Camp Cope have new singles. Action City is Michael Slawter and Shawn Lynch and they hail from North Carolina.

Julie DoironToday we have Julie Doiron from Canada returning to the playlist with her new band Julie and The Wrong Guys. Also from Canada, The Wasted Potential that we played some time ago through a series of contemporary Hüsker Dü covers are back with a new tune dedicated. The DTs come from Bellingham WA, and hail from Hidden Volume, the same label that also brought us Gorilla* and The Improbables this year. Katy Cole and her Last Daze keep putting out new songs and we are anticipating the new record with great hopes. And we also wait for the new Dream Syndicate record. Meanwhile they are putting occasional tracks from their upcoming album on Youtube. Derrick Anderson from Toledo, OH teamed up with The Bangles for his new single. We also check out Handsome Jack from Lockport, NY live in Cleveland. Brinsley Schwartz lost album It’s All Over Now is finally properly released, so we check that out too.

Julie DoironSeveral new things today… John Wesley Coleman III has yet another record out this year, so when you add it all up together, it’s his forth this year: two solo, one duet and one with The Golden Boys (we reviewed it last week). Then we have a new band here at the Little Lighthouse, Kriz crvene fuxe from Zagreb, although the news comes to us that the band has already ceased to exists in the meantime. Julie Doiron, who used to be in Eric’s Trip is back with the new solo album. Talking about grunge, Soundgarden also has a new record. And finally, Holly Golighthly has another record with The Brokeoffs entitled Sunday Roll Me Over. We also pay a special homage in this show to Sandy Denny, who has a four CD box set filled with demos and other rarities.
