He took some old song that he wrote for the Raw Power follow-up, finished them up, recorded with various singers and put them out on a new record Re-Licked. Matthew Smith is back with another Outrageous Cherry album, after a few years of hiatus. We introduce a new band from Sweden – The Youth. Kevn Kinney used to be in the band called Drivin ‘N’ Cryin, but now he has a solo careers quite in the past decade. His new album A Good Country Mile is a collaboration with Anton Fier. Terry Adams is not the only remaining original or classic line up member of NRBQ, but the record is still very nice and worth checking out. Legendary Bill Fox from Cleveland has a new record out called One Thought Revealed. We also have reissues for Reatards and Eddy Current Suppression Ring today. New band for today is Slow Animal from New Jersey. This show is dedicated to Etta James.
Rock’n’rollers don’t spare themselfes. Their lives are intense. They pack a lot of action in their lifetime and often leave young. These people inspire us and entertain us. We learn from them too. The past year saw the passing of many great ones: New Orleans vocalist Benny Spellman, original bass player of The Shadows Jet Harris, rock’n’roll promoter from Cleveland Steve Popovic, the saxophonist from the E Street Clarence Clemons, Gerry Stuck-in-the-middle Rafferty, Rundgren’s keyboardist Moogy Klingman, the songwriter Jerry Leiber, Polly up-yours Styrene, the original guitar master Hubert Sumlin, his disciple Gary Moore, drumming wizard Keef Hartley, singer-songwriter Bill Morrissey, John Walker brother and the jazz giant from Zagreb Bosko Petrovic… we remember all of them today with a show dedicated to those that left us last year. And 2012 didn’t start the right way either. She already took Tom Ardolino from NRBQ and one of my favorite writers ever Josef Skvorecky. We will remember them with deepest respect.
Here we are again after a summer long hiatus. Students are back to school, cold days are here and hot rock’n’roll selections too. This show is filled with some of the most exciting music that came out while we were gone. We have Eamon McGrath from Canada for the first time in our show. Interesting character who recorded tons of music alone in his bedroom for years until last year when his album 13 Songs of Whiskey and Light broke out internationally. Eamon is unusually talented songwriter that has a great future. We hope that his new album Peace Maker is just as good as 13 Songs. Another new songwriting name in today’s show is Pat Hull. He also wrote a number of songs back in his old hometown of Chico in California, until he moved to New York City recently. He has a new album called Fable Names. Spampinato brothers, Joey of NRBQ and Johnny of The Incredible Casuals recorded a new solo album called Pie In The Sky together with another Incredible Casual Aaron Spade. They are touring USA and keep your eye on the events in your town. Their shows are outstanding. Endless Boogie, blues gods from Brooklyn are also here with a new album Full House Head. Limes, Memphis band fronted by Shawn Cripps is also back with the new album Rhinestone River, which comes a few years after their Internet-only album Tarantula, which we loved five years ago. We love the new one too. One of the most exciting album this summer was the new album for Peter Case, who teamed with DJ Bonebreak from X to record Wig!. Case reinvented himself as a hot rocking bluesman and it totally works. Come tune in next week after you hear this one and don’t forget our bonuses!
