Time for our annual Cajun and zydeco review, music either inspired by Louisiana or made over there. We check out the new tunes from Rose & The Bros from Ithaca, Shemekia Copeland and Leyla McCalla. We introduce Le Winston Band from Montreal, Seth James from Texas, David Donar from Toronto, Zydeco Soul Shakerz from France, Andy Baylor from Australia and Rodney The Cajun Spur Morgan from Austin. We close our show with a delightful classical music piece inspired by zydeco by Californian composer William Susman.

Good songwriting today! We have new music by Sarah Harmer and Eamon McGrath, both from Canada, Adam Weiner and his Low Cut Connie on a new album. We also have one of the most legendary ones: Bruce Springsteen. Talking about legends, John Mayall has just celebrated his 86th birthday with a new single, collaborating with Buddy Miller. Willie Nile had a good record this year and there’s also a tribute organized in his honor. Shemekia Copeland has a lovely new feminist cover of Under My Thumb. Finally, Templo Diez is a new band from Netherlands that we introduce in today’s show.

A star studded line up helps her on the new record, including Steve Cropper, John Prine, Rhiannon Giddens and Emmylou Harris. Jon S. Williams from City of Cool has some new recordings that he sent to us, so we check that out too. Dan Stuart (ex Green On Red) is back with the new record and legendary songwriter and graphic novelist Peter Blegvad is also back with new music. Dot Dash from Washington are back with the new album Proto Retro. We introduce John Brodeur from New York with his Bird Streets and a duet featuring Lia Pamina and Dario Persi from Italy.
