Today’s episode is dedicated to the memory of Glenn Branca, one of the greatest contemporary composers, who grew out of the New York underground rock scene as a part of Theoretical Girls, but made his mark on the avant-garde neo-classical scene. He Passed away from throat cancer on Mat 13 this year.

catl.Today we present the new record for catl, a blues rock duo from Toronto, Canada. Another representative of the same genre, but a bit more traditional, are Backsliders from Australia. They have a new album out there called Dark Side. Jack Bruce of Cream is back also with a new record. Jon Spencer with his new single rounds out our very long blues segment today. Sonic Chicken 4 from Perpignan are also back with the new record called Shake Appeal. The leader of Tragically Hip, Gord Downie joined forces with The Sadies to make a new record. All of that stuff today in The Little Lighthouse!

Donald Duck DunnToday we say goodbye to one of the truly greatest bass players in rock’n’roll, legendary Donald Duck Dunn of the Booker T And The MG’s. He passed away on May 13, 2012 in his sleep after a gig with his old band mate Steve Cropper. We also have a new band in the show called Catl from Toronto. Jim Diamond produced their brand new album called Soon This Will All Be Gone. Gabriel Fulvimar hails from Cleveland. He has an interesting band called Gap Dream and we check that out today. The dB’s are back together with a full original line-up and we check out a new tune from the new lp called Falling Off the Sky. Guided By Voices have yet another new lp as well.
