Flashlite #642

Light psych music trip around the world today. We have Les Grys-Grys from Alès in France, Alien Mustangs from Greece, Roy from Toronto in Canada, Greg ‘Stackhouse’ Prevost from New York City and Tiptides from Bloomington IN. I got a nice package of records from Rock XS in Greece and all three are Greek releases. Not brand new records, but they were new to me. Two of them are on God Record label: John Adler Twink and Terrapin. One is a self released, richly designed album by Hypnotic Nausea.

Rat Columns

Nice new tunes today from Guided By Voices, Rat Columns, Jay Gonzalez and Autogramm. Leigh Gregory of The Dispossessed and Mellow Drunk is back with a solo record and opening tune on it bears a tribute to Lemonheads in its title. Speaking of Lemonheads, PA musician Fred Mascherino teamed up with Evan Dando co-writing a song together for his band The Color Fred. We introduce Wilding from Melbourne and Sam Coffey and the Iron Lungs from Toronto. We close the show today with a small tribute to Zafir Hadzimanov, one of the most interesting early pop and rock singers of Yugoslavia who passed away recently.

Big Brave

Loud and heavy show today. We start off with a pair of rough punk bands Mud City Manglers from Pittsburgh and Sick Thoughts from New Orleans. Then we get even heavier with Miss Lava from Portugal and reach the apex of heaviness with Big Brave from Canada. From New York City, we have new music from A Place To Bury Strangers and a new posthumous release by Alan Vega. Over in Norway, Motorpsycho prepared unreleased materials gathered for their recent trilogy and made a whole new exciting album out of it. We finish off with Trash Ferraris who we know very little about.
