Today we have the new music from Ben Vaughn, who covered an old Randy Crowell song, When Losers Rule The World. Honeymoon Disease from Sweden are back with the new record, and so are The Forty Nineteens, out of San Francisco. We also introduce the new band from Tim Parnin (also in Cobra Verde and Sweet Apple), called Falling Stars. Their new recordings are produced by Mitch Easter. Sprinters come from Manchester in England and David Nance comes from Omaha, NE. Today’s show is dedicated to Glen Campbell who we lost on August 8 this year.
The biggest thing today is the new record for Julie Christensen. She is back big time with her new band Stone Cupid and the new record called Cardinal. We remember her well from her stint with Chris D and Divine Horsemen band in the 80s. From San Francisco, The Forty Nineteens are back with a new rock’n’roll kick-in-the-gut called Rebooted. We also hear a segment from Pat Todd’s live show in Cleveland and we pay a tribute to the great Prince.
We end today with the mind-blowing new album for Rachel, Tanya and Petra Haden, The Haden Triplets, produced by Ry Cooder. We start with The Forty Nineteens from LA who just put out excellent new record called simply Spin It. Our recommendation exactly! The we check out Coathangers, a trio of ladies from Atlanta for the first time at the show. Black Lips have a new record and so do John The Conqueror. New supergroup today: David Hidalgo from Los Lobos, Luther Dickinson from North Mississippi Allstars and Mato Nanji join forces on a new album together called Three Skulls And The Truth. We have also the new non-album single from Natural Child and a track from a new LP for Suzi Chunk. The new names today are The Shivas from Portland and Forty Nineteens from LA. Famous tribute to the great late Arizona guitarist Rainer Ptacek called The Inner Flame has been reissued with some tracks missing and some new tracks. We check it all out today.
