A couple of sweet updates this time. Holly Beth Vincent of Holly And The Italians is here with her new single. King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard have published four albums in just a few short weeks, one after another. And a standout is environmental concept album Ice, Death, Planets, Lungs, Mushrooms and Lava. We check it out today. Talking about wizards, a true star Todd Rungdren is back with a collaboration album Space Force, featuring a truly stellar list of collaborators. Black Lips are also here with the new record. Ghost Woman has a second album in a year announced with the new single. Salt Lake City’s Sculpture Club check in with the new single. Lisa MycholsToday we have new songs for Black Lips and Grant Hart. Nick Saloman and his Bevis Frond has a new double album out called White Numbers. We also sample the new tribute record called Dring A Toast To Innocence: A Tribute to Lite Rock, which collects interesting cover versions of cheesy 70s radio hits. As it turns out, those songs weren’t that bad after all, so we hear Lisa Mychols’ cover of David Soul’s Don’t Give Up On Us and Plasticsouls’ cover of Fleetwood Mac’s Sentimental Lady. Australia is the land of great garage rock bands. Step-Panther is another new name from that scene to prove it.

Amy LavereLast week we had a pleasure to see Joe Jack Talcum at the Beachland. Joe’s show was a very touching solo acoustic performance. He brought with himself another duet, also based in Philly, called The Bassturds. He also carried a box with the brand new Dead Milkmen CD. They reunited this year to record a selection of new tunes, but this time with Dandrew on bass replacing Dave Blood. So, in the first part of today’s show we listen to new tunes for the Milkmen, Joe Jack and The Bassturds. After that, we have some other artists with new records. Rock legend Duane Eddy is here, as well as Buddy Miller on a Tom T. Hall cover. Beautiful Amy LaVere is also here with her double bass. Black Lips have a new record, and let us not forget The Cajun Country Revival with their portion of Louisiana madness.

Let me just mention in the end that this is the last Little Lighthouse show and post until October, since we’re taking a small summer break.

The Chatham SingersVery fresh show today at The Little Lighthouse! We have the new Billy Childish project The Chatham Singers which he founded together with his wife Julie. We also have new album for Neal Casal, Roots and Wings. Madeleine Peyroux, our favorite Billie Holiday sound-alike is also back with her third album so far Bare Bones. Detroit band Outrageous Cherry announced the new album with a fantastic mp3 single Get Out While You Can. Italian band Afterhours came up with a new album last year, but I just discovered it recently – so we check that out. The new LP is called I Milanesi Ammazzano Il Sabato. And we finish our new album list for this show with Black Lips’ 200 Million Thousand. Also, I played some songs by Cleveland Bill fox who I saw live last week and who blew me away with his talented performance.
