Good songwriting today! We have new music by Sarah Harmer and Eamon McGrath, both from Canada, Adam Weiner and his Low Cut Connie on a new album. We also have one of the most legendary ones: Bruce Springsteen. Talking about legends, John Mayall has just celebrated his 86th birthday with a new single, collaborating with Buddy Miller. Willie Nile had a good record this year and there’s also a tribute organized in his honor. Shemekia Copeland has a lovely new feminist cover of Under My Thumb. Finally, Templo Diez is a new band from Netherlands that we introduce in today’s show.

Today we have a line up of nice new comebacks. The Afghan Whigs are back collaborating with James Hall. Violent Femmes are also back with new tunes. Rich Hopkins (ex Sidewinders) with his Luminaros has a new album. John Fallon, who used to be with The Steppes is back with the new band Laissez Faires. Southern college rockers Drivin’n’Cryin’ are another comeback in this show. The younger generation returns too: Mikal Cronin has a new single and Eamon McGrath has a new album out.

We dig into Memphis neo-traditionalists, Luther Dickinson collaborates with Amy Helm, Amy LaVere, Sharde Thomas and the Como Mamas as Sisters of the Strawberry Moon and another four of his friends, Rhiannon Giddens, Amythyst Kiah, Leyla McCalla and Allison Russell, perform together as Our Native Daughters. Also down south, our good friend Kim Simpson has a new album and we check out Helen Rose for the first time in our show. Veteran and legendary musician who played with Iggy Pop, David Bowie and Todd Rundgren, Hunt Sales is back in a new project. Finally, Scientists visited our town and we check out their new song.

We make dedications to Danny Kirwan of Fleetwood Mac and Jon Hiseman from Colloseum. Both of them passed away recently.

Two bands share a split EP, Remedy from Austria and ESC Life from Croatia. ESC Life used to be a backing band for Grant Hart when he did a tour in Europe a few years ago. King Gizzard and The Lizard Wizard continue their hyper-production with yet another new album which they call Polygondwanaland. Our show today is dedicated to the drummer of Flesh Eaters, Christian Free who used to be a part of their 90s line up and passed away last week. Also Kak Channthy of The Cambodian Space Project got killed in a car accident last week. We didn’t play this band before, but it’s still important to pay respect to this spectacularly interesting singer-songwriter.
