Quite a few interesting releases today: Damned are back pretty much in classic line up with the new record. Ian Hunter is also back with first part of the new album. Juliana Hatfield has a new single (sharing sides with Emma Swift). Dynamic duo of brothers Lemon Twigs are back as well. Murlocs have a steady release of annual albums, and the new one just came out. Also from Australia and just as active, The On and Ons are back as well. Our recent favorite Gyasi has a new EP. Reverberations and Country Westerners are also some of the novelties we have today. Ohio is represented by Keith Harman and his project Good Looking Son.

We have a nice powerpop oriented show today. We are starting with the new album for Greg Pope and follow up with yet another release by Daniel Romano this year (is anyone counting still?). Lemon Twigs are back with another shiny album. Built To Spill from Boise ID, return with an album that fully consists of Daniel Johnston’s reinterpretations. 2nd Grade is a new name that comes from Philadelphia. Their album is packed with short, catchy songs that are instant favorites. Speaking about short catchy songs, Guided by Voices are also back with a new one. Is anyone still counting those? Also from Ohio, we introduce Librarians with Hickeys. Cocktails from San Francisco released a wonderful little masterpiece this year entitled Catastrophic Entertainment. That and a bunch of other recent and not so recent pop tunes, today at the Little Lighthouse!

Lena LovelandThe biggest news for this week is that Trotsky Icepick has a new single. Actually, the tune is already a bit old, but it popped up for me only recently. The Lemon Twigs now have their new album out. Chris Butler and Ralph Carney recorded an album about odd holidays, shortly prior to Carney’s death. We also check out the new one from the Austin’s White Denim, Lena Loveland from Berlin and Codgers from Detroit. James and The Ultrasounds come from Memphis TN. And we also do a little tribute to Aretha Franklin.
