Trippy show today with two Canadian bands: Possum from Toronto and Elevator To Hell from New Brunswick. Two tributes, one to Roky Erickson and the other one to Bubble Puppy. In particular, we hear the new version of Don’t Fall Down by Black Angels and Hot Smoke and Sassafras by Deniz Tek and newly reformed Rittenhouse Square, featuring Mitch Easter, Peter Holsapple, Will Rigby, Chris Stamey and Don Dixon. We also introduce Fuzzy Lights from UK, Ribbons of Euphoria from Greece and hear new music from La Luz and The Shivas. We end the show with an obit to Sarajevo musician and master of ceremonies Zvonimir Altarac ÄŒičak who passed away in March this year.

Tess ParksWe have a new tune from the productive band out in Nashville called All Them Witches. Paul Kelly out in Australia is also back with a new record called Nature. Peter Holsapple has a weird new album, which was recorded back in the 70s as a demo in Memphis at the same time when Alex Chilton was recording Like Flies on Sherbet so his record label decided to combine demos from both works on a single album. Å umski from Zagreb also have a new record and we introduce new names for us Les Lullies, Tess Parks and Anton Newcombe. Out in England we check out stuff out on Roadkill records, Weird Sex and Projector.

Ruined FortuneA ton of new tunes from Australia. We have Ruined Fortune, a duo from Sydney and Eastlink from Melbourne. King Gizzard and The Lizard Wizard have a new record called Oddments, plus we were lucky to host them in Cleveland. We also check out some good old rustbelt bands. Cheap Girls come from Lansing MI and The Safes are from Chicago. Peter Holsapple wrote a neat tribute to his old band Continental Drifters for The Radio Free Song Club and recorded it with overdubs from Susan Cowsill and Russ Broussard. We also check out the new Secretly Canadian reissues of Nikki Sudden albums.

Brian LisikLots of new stuff this time. Let’s begin first with the familiar names. We have two new songs for the two main members of The dB’s. Chris Stamey has a new album and Peter Holsapple submitted a track to the Bobby Sutliff benefit. Two friends from the old UK rock’n’roll scene, Van Morrison and Georgie Fame each recently had new records, so we check that out. Mark Lanegan also appeared on a tribute, this one was for Tim Hardin. Legendary controversial music producer and musician from New York City, Kramer, covered a whole bunch of Brill Building era songs. Of the newbies, we have Brian Lisik from Canton OH, Hot Nun from San Francisco. Veronica Falls from England have a very aggressive advertising campaign for their new record Waiting For Something To Happen, but it’s still a very nice record and we get to hear a song from it.

Dave SchrammGrunge is dead. We have Cute Lepers opening today’s show with the new album Adventure Time and if you just hear their sound you’d think they’re from Memphis or Atlanta, but actually they come from the grunge capital of the world, Seattle WA. 1991 was veeery long time ago! We also catch up with Dave Schramm, who played in many band throughout the years. One of them was The Okra All Stars who’s cover of Purple Rain was a popular song 10 years ago when we were on KLSU. Dave is now a part of a great podcast called Radio Free Song and we check that out in today’s show. A part of that club is also Peter Holsapple (ex The dB’s). Kelly Kneiser from the TN band Glossary has a solo album. You probably remember how much we liked Glossary last year. Out good friend Mike Watt has a three million different bands these days, and one of those is Floored By Four. We check it out today as well.
