Today we check in with new music fro some true singer songwriting legends: Willie Nelson, John Doe of X, Lyle Lovett and Calexico. Nitty Girtty Dirt Band make a whole album of Bob Dylan covers and they don’t just do Nashville Skyline. Lada, Dinko and Hrvoje from Bambi Molesters have a new band called LHD and it fits very well with their previous work. We also check in with Tyler Bejoian and his Names. But the show opens a newcomer, Peter Donovan from Seattle, WA.

Emma DeCorsey of I Am The Polish ArmyToday we have a brand new track from The Flesh Eaters, who reformed in their most notorious line up, featuring Chris D, Steve Berlin, DJ Bonebrake, John Doe, Bill Bateman and Dave Alvin. And it’s a cover of a lesser known Sonics tune! We also have the new tune from Emma DeCorsey of I Am The Polish Army from her new cassette Dream. Clara Engel from Toronto in Canada also has a new album A Shore Far From Any Prison. Clara will be playing live in Cleveland on December 7th at Euclid Tavern and on December 8th at The Whiskey Bar. Emma will be playing at Blue Arrow Records on November 10th at 3pm. Both of them are coming to Cleveland through a booking production of The Little Lighthouse. So that’s something new I’m doing and it would be appreciated if you all come and support the effort. Talking about Blue Arrow Records, new Jonathan Richman record is coming out today on that label and it’s called Sa. It features Jerry Harrison on keyboards, among others. We also introduce Maiorano from Berlin Germany, Michael Head from Liverpool, England and an older record that came on Ill In The Head Records by a Croatian band Gipps. On Numero, there is also a nice reissue compilation entitled Basement Beehive: The Girl Group Underground. We check it all out today.

Plastic Pals form Sweden have a new single. San Mikulec, a one-man band in Croatia is back with the new project called Snooze in Motion and we close everything with John Doe of X with his new album. Bob Hillman is a new name in show, he recorded an albums with the help of Peter Case. We pay respect to Jadranka Stojakovic, probably the greatest female character that ever came out of the Yugoslav pop and rock scene. She passed away yesterday.

Then we go to Italy, where our friends Cheap Wine have a new record, tenth in seventeen years! Jesse Winchester who passed away earlier this year, recorded an LP worth of stuff which has just come out and we check it out. Singer songwriter Kim Simpson returns with music set to the DuÅ¡ko Trifunović lyrics. And Maggie Björklund who we know well from her collaborations with Howe Gelb and John Doe has a record on her own. Also, Mike Watt and his Italian sailors visited my town, and we have it on a tape. Il Sogno Del Marinaio! The most famous musician out of Boise ID, Paul Revere passed away and we pay a small tribute to his legacy.

Sultan's BatheryMike Watt is a rock’n’roll sailor and now his in the boat with two Italian fratello’s Andrea Belfi and Stefano Pilia. Their band Il Sogno Del Marinaio has a new record out called Canto Secondo and they are about to embark on a big American tour. Before you catch them in your town, here they are at the Little Lighthouse. Talking about Italians, there’s a new band out from over there called Sultan’s Bathery. They were also on the tour in the ol’ US of A just recently. John Mayall has a new record and since we’re at the letter M in our Blues Alphabet, it’s the right time to spend some airtime on this great British bluesman. John Doe has a new best off record and it also contains two brand new songs. We feature one of them today. Also, somehow the news of Peter Banks passing away escaped me last year, so we pay a little tribute to the legendary guitarist of Syn, Yes and Flash.

Robin GibbToday we say the last goodbye to the great banjo player Doug Dillard and one of the Bee Gees – Robin Gibb. Both of them passed away recently and we owe a lot to each of them for the development of rock’n’roll and popular music in general. Other than that, we check out mainly some new singles, eps – short form in general. John Doe and Exene have a new one, recorded with minimal arrangements in the studio. Richard Buckner has a new three-track ep called Willow. And then come the rockers. The Intelligence from Seattle and Nobunny have new 45s. The Paperhead from Nashville sport a lovely Syd Barrett styled single from a split EP with Mikal Cronin (among others). King Khan also splits a 45 with Mikal. Only LP tracks are by the Dillard and Clark and The Beegees today!

We also have a new album for The Bangles and their producer, Matthew Sweet. Glossary are back with the new record Long Live All of Us. John Doe tours USA with X, they were in Cleveland on Tuesday, but he also has a solo record out called Keeper. Tommy Keene is back with Behind The Parade. We dedicate today’s show to Jerry Leiber, one half of the songwriting tandem Leiber and Stoller, who passed away on August 22 this year.
