Happy new year, everyone. Today we finish the list of best albums in 2019 (top 13). In my opinion, Danny and the Doorknobs return album Jukebox in the LA River stands out in it’s playful quality among the rest of this year’s production. The band also released another digital only album as Trotsky Icepick this year, making a double whammy for all those who were thirsty for their sound since the breakup in the 90s. Our hope is that the band will stay together for many more years to come. Tune in next week for our part 3 where we introduce many nice mini albums (shorter than 30 minutes) and a few other albums that didn’t make the list.

Another one of our heavier editions. We open up with Hot Lunch, a new band for us that commutes between San Francisco and Oakland, CA. Then we have Thee Lexington Arrows fronted by Kathleen Wilson over in Baltimore, doing a fantastic version of Gimme Shelter. Then we check out another refreshing cover, Cherry Red originally performed by Groundhogs, but this time from the new live Ty Segall album. Another killer cover in today’s show is Don Nix original in a fresh new version from Pharlee over in San Diego, CA. And the fourth cool cover is Will Anything Happen a Blondie classic this time performed by the Cleveland band Missed, fronted by Mickey Marie. We also check out their new single. And then all the way in Slovenia, we have a band with a similar name, Mist. We close with tracks from the new albums by Sad Planets and Murlocs.

Today’s show kicks off with the new single for John Petkovic (Cobra Verde) and Pat Carney (Black Keys), together as Sad Planets. We also introduce the new releases from Motorpsycho and Specials who reunited after many years. We introduce Low Life from Sydney Australia and Katla from Iceland. Shagg is a new quartet from Cleveland and we also hear one of their songs recorded live. Sara Romweber, drummer of Let’s Active, Snatches of Pink and Dex Romweber Duo passed away at the age of 55 on March 4th, and today’s show is dedicated to her memory.
