ESC Life used to be a touring band for Grant Hart and now they have a new single. Ty Segall, Charles Mootheart and Chris Shaw from Ex Cult are back with their GØGGS. Oh! Episode 500 from Cleveland? That’s a lot when you think about it… But, let’s not worry too much about big round numbers and keep on keeping on. We have a new band from Chris Eckman of The Walkabouts, which he formed with Croatian musicians. It’s called The Strange. Jim Lauderdale is back with two new records. One is solo, and the other one is with buddy Roland White. The rest of the stuff today are all new names for us: The Coke Dares from Bloominton IN, Dark Thoughts from Philly, The Black Delta Movement over in Hull, UK and Chris Richards with his Subtractions over in Detroit. Today we start off with the new music from the Texan violin player Amanda Shires. Then we introduce the new blues singer Shemekia Copeland. A star studded line up helps her on the new record, including Steve Cropper, John Prine, Rhiannon Giddens and Emmylou Harris. Jon S. Williams from City of Cool has some new recordings that he sent to us, so we check that out too. Dan Stuart (ex Green On Red) is back with the new record and legendary songwriter and graphic novelist Peter Blegvad is also back with new music. Dot Dash from Washington are back with the new album Proto Retro. We introduce John Brodeur from New York with his Bird Streets and a duet featuring Lia Pamina and Dario Persi from Italy. Also we introduce new names for us: Pastor in Austria, Civic and Last Quokka from Australia and Mooner from Chicago (not to be confused with Mooner from Indonesia). Jonathon Robert Lindaberry is a one man band The Bones of J.R. Jones. Shilpa Ray comes from New York City and covers an Alice Cooper tune on her new single.

Ray Davies of The Kinks is also back with the second installment of his Americana series. We introduce Jill Jackson from Scotland and Lucy And The Rats from London, although Lucy Spazzy comes originally from Australia. All the way from Melbourne, we have three ladies Camp Cope. Also from Australia, in Sydney, we check out Mark Moldre and Michael Carpenter who joined forces as Supahip. From Cleveland, Cross brothers have a new project called simply Cross Brothers. In Portland OR, we check out Tiger Touch and Space Merchants from Brooklyn named themselves after a 1952 SF novel. We start off with Beechwood’s new album, continue with the new music from Sonny Landreth and Australian legends Scientists.
