Flashlite #176

Evie SandsToday we introduce two new artists at the Little Lighthouse. Both are coming from Atlanta, Georgia. Vincas remind me a lot on All The Saints, who are also from there. I wonder what happened to them. We also have a new blues band from Atlanta, Delta Moon. Ty Segall is very active. Besides his brand new record with White Fence, he also has a new record with his own band called Slaughterhouse. One of the most interesting reissues so far this year is The Red Bird Girls Very First Time in True Stereo which introduces some of the most interesting singles from Red Bird Records for the first time in stereo.

Howe GelbSummer’s knocking on our door, and we present three new things this week. Howe Gelb of Giant Sand is back with a new album of songs inspired by gypsy music from Cordoba is Spain. His new band is called Band of Gypsies and album is called Alegrias. Remember the great tribute to Roky Erickson back in 1990 called Where the Pyramid Meets the Eye? Well, there’s another tribute to Roky out there twenty years after called The Psychedelic Sounds Of The Sonic Cathedral. All The Saints who we loved two years ago with their album Fire On Corridor X are on that tribute, which makes us search for the new info on them. Their new album is recorded and will be out soon and on their myspace page, we found a song that’s been unreleased so far…

The Delta 72 – Pleased And Honored Pt. 2;
The Rangers – Justine;
Butthole Surfers – Earthquake;
Roky Erickson With Okkervil River – John Lawman;
13th Floor Elevators – Don’t Fall Down;
All The Saints – Don’t Fall Down;
All The Saints – Host;
Thin White Rope – Wire Animals;
Giant Sand – Dead Air;
Kate Maki – Message Delivered;
Howe Gelb – Uneven Light of Day;
Reigning Sound – Banker And A Liar;
Steve Wynn – For All I Care;
Gutterball – One By One;
Harlan T Bobo – Mlle. Chatte;
Meat Puppets – Rotten Shame.

10. All The Saints – Fire on Corridor X

All The SaintsOne of most exciting new bands in the past year comes from the South. But this is not a typical southern deal. Noisy, precise and serious arrangements, with a dose of gothic mystery but also a touch of shoegaze and grange, sounds more British than Southern. But it also doesn’t sound out of place on legendary label Touch And Go which helped the band rise from obscurity.

All The Saints We welcome you to a new epsode of The Little Lighthouse with several new interesting tunes. We have a brand new band from Atlanta GA, All The Saints with their own twist on psychedelic rock. The Service Industry were around for quite some time with their songs about survival in the working class, but this is their debut at the Little Lighthouse. Diplomats of Solid Sound is a new retro band from Iowa, drawing on soul and funk sound patterns from the golden era of 60s and 70s. Also, check out two new tunes that we dug out for you – one by Ray Mason and other by The Moaners.

Also, from now on, we will have two new bonuses (bonae?) per week, the usual Down on the Corner and a new one – Mystery Train, another good show prepared weekly by Zikica Simic.

Screaming Trees – Transfiguration;
Rain Parade – One Half Hour Ago;
Pink Floyd – Astronomy Domine;
