Today we have the newest album from our beloved Apache, who we adored six years ago when they had their record Radical Sabbatical. The new album is called Alcatraz. Faux Killas from Memphis are also back with the new record, exactly one year from their previous which we pronounced the best record in 2015. We also have some new bands today, Kaviar Special from France, Pink Mexico from New York City, Levitation Room from LA and Zun also from California. The biggest surprise is Koes Barat from Indonesia.
Today we start off with Harriet Hudson. Her band Miss Destiny is back with the new LP all the way from Melbourne Australia. Writhing Squares is a new duet from Philadelphia. Three important Detroit musicians Thomas Potter, Jim Weber and Jim Diamond started a Bob Seger trubute band called Seger Liberation Army. Teenage Fanclub are also back with the new record called Here and another representative of the 90s power pop revival, Velvet Crush revisits their classic album from 1994 called Teenage Symphonies To God with an alternative demo and live version of that album. Syd Griffin’s bluegrass band The Coal Porters has released their sixth new album and Blues Pills our of Sweden and back with the new collections of their retro blues rock tunes.
Today we introduce two new bands fro Portland OR: The Reverberations and Lovesores. We also introduce Cotton Mather from Austin TX and Sam Vicari From Chicago. But the most exciting introduction this week is Connections from Columbus who put out a wonderful new album called Midnight Run. Descendents are back with the new record Hypercaffium Spazzinate. Finally we pay the last respect to legendary founder of Blue Oyster Cult founder Sandy Pearlman who passed away recently at the age of 76.
