Today we celebrate life and times of the great Chuck Berry! We lost him last weekend. I think he is basically the reason we have rock’n’roll today. If you hear some new band and you can’t hear Chuck Berry in their sound, at least a little bit, then it’s not rock’n’roll. All the greats were immensely influenced by Chuck. His guitar riff is the very fiber of the rock’n’roll fabric. He turned lyrics into poetry. He made rock’n’roll art and he was the first one to do it. We will hear a bunch of covers of Chuck’s greatest songs from a wild variety of artists today in his honor. Rest in peace, master!
Today, we bring you back All Them Witches from Nashville, legendary Godfathers from UK, John Wesley Coleman III from Austin TX and Afterhours from Italy. New names are Mind Meld from LA, California Camp Koala from Budapest, Hungary.
Today we introduce Audacity and Midnite Snaxxx from California and Century Palm and Career Suicide from Toronto. Buzz Osborne from Melvins and Teri from The Butcherettes have a new band together called Crystal Fairy. Old 97s are back with the new record too. We also introduce a new singer songwriter Brad Armstrong.
Today we hear the new music from Bernays Propaganda (actually and old live recording that just came out on their bandcamp page), Hills from Sweden, Winstons from Italy, and The Intended from Detroit. Duke Garwood is a guitarist and a former collaborator of Mark Lanegan on their Black Pudding project. Fancey is a new band from Todd Fancey from The New Pornographers.
