Today we check out the new tunes from Golden Hours (Berlin Germany), Black Delta Movement (London UK), Helicon (Glasgow UK), Texas hopefuls Night Beats, Japanese noisemakers with the long name Acid Mothers Temple and The Melding Paraiso UFO, Edena Gardens from Denmark and another UK veteran Icarus Peel (formerly in Honey Pot). Also new, from Vegas, The Laissez Fairs. In the last block of today’s show, we pay a tribute to Pete Brown, a UK poet who wrote lyrics for Cream.

Today we have a couple of new releases from the States. From Milwaukee, we have the new band for us, Rexxx, over in Texas, Night Beats released a new album. Poison Boys from Chicago have a new single for Madd in Chico, CA. Now, the latter artists creates troubles for tracking them down, because we had them previously as Madde and as The Viles, but we’re still keeping an eye on them. In Australia, we check out Brenton Manser and The Disciples of Zen. Over in Italy, Radio Days has a new recrod. And lastly, in Slovenia, Lelee has just released probably the strongest album in Yugoslavia since the breakup of the country. Period! We finish the show with a tribute to Zoran Simjanovic, one of the pioneers of Yugo Rock and an important movie score composer who passed away on April 11 this year.

Kate MakiOur show today brings the new music from Mitski, Kate Maki and duet of Shawn Colvin and Steve Earle. We introduce the new band out of Boston Sandwich Police, that features Evan Dando of The Lemonheads, who made a surprise Cleveland show recently. Starling Electric from Ann Arbor is another new band introduced in today’s show. We also hear newly surfaced recording of Allen Toussaint which were made shortly before him passing away this year. Another tribute today is to Chips Moman, a legendary producer and songwriter in Memphis, who sadly passed away on June 13. Mojo magazine put together an interesting compilation that covers Bob Dylan’s album Blonde on Blonde song by song and we check out the contribution from Seattle’s Night Beats.

Kevin Junior - The Chamber StringsToday we pay tribute to four artists that passed away in the recent days. Kevin Junior was an institution of the larger Cleveland and Chicago scenes. Music that he created with The Chamber Strings was much larger than the attention they were given. He passed away on January 17. Dale Buffin Griffin from Mott The Hoople passed away on the same day after 10 years struggling with alzheimer’s. Paul Kantner of Jefferson Airplane passed away on January 28 and the original singer of Jefferson Airplane Signe Toly Anderson passed away as well on the same day. But amidst of all those tragic news, we find time to hear some new music as well. Our friends at Blue Arrow Records released the new album by Jonathan Richman entitled Ishkode! Ishkode!. Ty Segall has a new record called Emotional Mugger. Night Beats come from Seattle and we check out their new album Who Sold My Generation. We open up with The I Don’t Cares, which is a new duet featuring Paul Westerberg and Juliana Hatfield.

Night BeatsWe have a large roots rock block today with the latest album for Steve Earle, which is not that new anymore, but we hear it for the first time in this show. Howe Gelb’s album is in and it sounds really great. Two new roots rock names today are Willie Sugarcapps from Mobile, AL and Greg Trooper from New Jersey. Bill DossToday we say goodbye to two rock’n’roll artists from two different eras, but equally revered here at the Little Lighthouse. Bill Doss, one of the founders of Olivia Tremor Control and Elephant Six collective passed away on July 30th this year. He was only 43. Also, legendary Motowon bassist Bob Babbitt passed away on July 16th from the damages caused by brain cancer. He was 74. John Hiatt is here with the new record and we also have two more new artists today. Snowgoose is a band from Scotland, fronted by their wonderful singer Anna Sheard. Christian Bland from Black Angels and Lee Blackwell from Night Beats have a new duet out there in Austin called The UFO Club.
