Today we open with a new single for a Melbourne band The Prize. Then we go to Sweden where we check out the new name for us, Finnjavlar. Then we dive into a Blue Arrow Records block with tunes for their new releases by Stutter Steps and The Wind-Ups. Legendary California bands Trotsky Icepick and Rain Parade are back with new tunes. And so is Chris Stamey, legendary founder of The dBs. Natural Child from Nashville are back with a new album. We have a special treat for Guided By Voices fans. They have a new album out and their former member Tobin Sprout has a record of previously unreleased tunes. We hear these two tunes as if they came out together on an album, together with signature low fi and tape dropouts characteristic for the early GBV albums. We close the show with a tribute to Robbie Robertson who passed away on August 9th at the age of 80.

The brightest highlight in today’s show are two live recordings from King Gizzard And The Lizard Wizard. This Australian band played two nights in Cleveland and I was there to catch some moments with my recorder. One of the songs was brand new from what I could tell. Another hero of this show, Eamon McGrath has put out yet another of his online only albums called Shortest Ride To The Light of The Morning. Chris Stamey is back with the new record. Mark Kozelek with his Sun Kil Moon is back with the new record, probably the best one in his career. We also check out two new band, The Morons from Chicago and The Zoltars from Austin TX.

Lots of new stuff this time. Let’s begin first with the familiar names. We have two new songs for the two main members of The dB’s. Chris Stamey has a new album and Peter Holsapple submitted a track to the Bobby Sutliff benefit. Two friends from the old UK rock’n’roll scene, Van Morrison and Georgie Fame each recently had new records, so we check that out. Mark Lanegan also appeared on a tribute, this one was for Tim Hardin. Legendary controversial music producer and musician from New York City, Kramer, covered a whole bunch of Brill Building era songs. Of the newbies, we have Brian Lisik from Canton OH, Hot Nun from San Francisco. Veronica Falls from England have a very aggressive advertising campaign for their new record Waiting For Something To Happen, but it’s still a very nice record and we get to hear a song from it.
