The Nuns was one of the first punk bands from the San Francisco rock scene. One of the punk pioneers from that era was Jennifer Anderson, better known as Jennifer Miro. This beautiful woman sadly died alone in New York last December and it took several weeks for the news to spread around. She was 54. Today’s show goes to her. We also have one new band today, Happy Thoughts from Indiana. The instrumental band Smrts from Australia have a new record out called Smrts Have Friends and Visit Them At Night, which will be an vinyl only release available in February. Wooden Wand also has a new record called Brairwood, which he recorded with a combo of several experienced musicians from Birmingham, AL. Evan Dando’s hotel room recordings from 1993 are out as a new Lemonheads release called Hotel Sessions.

smRts come from Perth, Australia, and they are a brain child of Pedja Delibasic who’s been a part of the Perth music scene for more than ten years now. He’s been in various bands and he is an avid record collector, especially the records from Yugoslavia. His great knowledge of various kinds of music allowed him to come up with a clever instrumental concept of three guitars and drums, lead by his playful one string guitar picking. Album is filled with thrilling quotations from the Yugoslavian sub-culture, although they are subtle enough to be completely missed by a casual listener. With all this, the most fun, dance-able record this year, comes from Perth, Australia.

Today we have three new releases by three regular acts here at the Little Lighthouse. Mission of Burma’s new LP The Sound The Speed The Light confirms that they are more than just another 80s reunion. I still remember vividly their amazing open air concert here in Cleveland this summer. Greg Cartwright’s Reigning Sound are also back with their new album Love and Curses, and it re-establishes Cartwright as one the greatest songwriters at this point in history. Another prolific Memphis punk, Jay Reatard has a new album called Watch Me Fall. This master of short form (singles and eps), proves that he can do a long player just as well. We also bring you a new attraction from Perth Australia – smRts, founded by Pedja Delibasic who we know from defunct Soviet Valves.
