We also check out the new music from Kim Simpson over in Texas who has gone political on his new album. Judy Dyble who used to be Fairport Convention is back with a new album, actually second in a year. She’s very active recently. Ray Davies of The Kinks is also back with the second installment of his Americana series. We introduce Jill Jackson from Scotland and Lucy And The Rats from London, although Lucy Spazzy comes originally from Australia. Today we have a bunch of new bands. We start off with Detrot Groove Gang (who actually come from Croatia) and continue with Older Sun from San Francisco, CA. All the way from Melbourne, we have three ladies Camp Cope. Also from Australia, in Sydney, we check out Mark Moldre and Michael Carpenter who joined forces as Supahip. From Cleveland, Cross brothers have a new project called simply Cross Brothers. In Portland OR, we check out Tiger Touch and Space Merchants from Brooklyn named themselves after a 1952 SF novel. We start off with Beechwood’s new album, continue with the new music from Sonny Landreth and Australian legends Scientists. New Australian force of nature is also represented with the new tune: Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever. We introduce two new band from Who Can You Trust label: Supersonic Blues and Pushy. Today we introduce the new power pop band Hawk, which features David Hawkins along with Ken Stringfellow and Gary Louris from Posies. Nick Lowe is back with an new EP and also Wilko Johnson, legendary Dr. Feelgood guitarist is back with the new record. We check out the new music from La Luz over in Seattle and we catch up with the recent music from Dot Dash, from Washington DC. Dave Alvin and Jimmie Dale Gilmore are in our live in Cleveland segment. We pay tributes to two drummers Knick Knox from the Cramps and D.J. Fontana, from Elvis’ band. Both of them passed away recently.
Today we check out the new music from Neko Case and Magnetix. Singer-songwriter from Canada Clara Engel is back with a new guitar oriented EP called In the Fog. We introduce new names at the show, Hot Lunch from San Francisco, Freezing Hands from Tucson AZ, Hanging Stars from London. Shannon Shaw is also back both as a solo artist and as a singer with her band Shannon and The Clams. All of that and more in the new episode of The Little Lighthouse.
Today we have a new tune from Eamon McGrath. Giant Sand also came back with a re-recording of one of their oldest tunes Tumble and Tear. Eli Paperboy Reed teamed up with High and Mighty Brass Band on a new album. We also introduce Texxcoco from the picturesque Las Palmas, Garage in July from Grabovec in Croatia and Greed Island from Dover, NH. We make dedications to Danny Kirwan of Fleetwood Mac and Jon Hiseman from Colloseum. Both of them passed away recently.
We have a lot of new music from our heroes today. Matthew Sweet has a new album and so does Holly Golightly with her Brokeoffs. Krist Novoselic returned as a bass player and accordionist of a new band called Giants In The Trees. Jillian Raye, however, is the front woman of the band. We also introduce Chris Price from LA. Also from LA, we have Groovy Movies. Shirley Davis from Madrid, Spain and Bottle Kids from Chicago, IL are also here for the first time. We also pay respect to Ralph Carney, instrumentalist from Akron OH, who passed away back in December. We know him well from his work with Tom Waits on Rain Dogs.
King Khan and Sean Spits have a new album together as Louder Than Death. Catl is also back with their new album Bide My Time Until I Die. We introduce Habibi from Brooklyn, Sunny Slopes from Carrboro, NC, Black Rainbows from Italy and Blind Owls from Corpus Christi, TX. Mike St Jude And The Valentines are live in Cleveland. Today’s episode is dedicated to the memory of Glenn Branca, one of the greatest contemporary composers, who grew out of the New York underground rock scene as a part of Theoretical Girls, but made his mark on the avant-garde neo-classical scene. He Passed away from throat cancer on Mat 13 this year.
