Exactly one year ago we introduced them with their previous album, and now the new one Soft Stab is out. John Schooley teamed up with Walter Daniels who played with many – 68 Comeback and Oblivians are just some of the names. Chook Race from Australia took those REM jangly guitars and reincarnated that lost sound on a new record About Time. Flashlite #147 – Vinyl Junkyard 2

Jericho GoToday’s show is dedicated to the 80s new wave scene from Georgia and the South of the USA. Everything is peculiar in the South, so is the new wave scene. The direct inspiration for today’s show is the LP called Jericho Go, a compilation record that was put together jointly by The DB Records in the US and the Stiff Records in UK. Now, it can only be found in rare used records bins in these two countries, and it’s probably not an easy task. Still, it’s an obscure, but a cherished item in my record collection. This show brings every single song from that LP and the rest of the time is filled with some other related tunes either by other Southern new wave bands or related acts from a different era. I hope you will enjoy the second installment of the Vinyl Junkyard.

Alejandro Escovedo The Baseball Project is a new “supergroup”, put together by Steve Wynn (Dream Syndicate), Peter Buck (REM), Scott McCaughey (Minus 5) and Linda Pitmon (Zuzu’s Petals). They recorded a new album Frozen Ropes and Dying Quails completely dedicated to baseball. I know absolutely nothing about baseball, but I know a few things about rock’n’roll and this album definitely rocks. We check it out in this new edition of the Little Lighthouse. Also, Alejandro Escovedo is back with the second album after the horrible disease that nearly crushed him. This time, it seems, he is stronger than ever. His new album Real Animal is also a concept record, completely about his rock’n’roll experience – both as a fan of music and as an active participant. Filled with numerous musical and lyrical references and quotes, this record is a truly unique and heartfelt to the rock’n’roll lifestyle.
