Today we have new music from Melvins, who covered Beatles on their new album Basses Loaded. Also, Turkish band Hayvanlar Alemi is finally back with the new single after several years of hiatus. Talking about Turkish sound, Los Angeles band Blaak Heat is inspired by it so much, that their new album sounds like it was recorded in Turkey. We also introduce Safeties from Cleveland and Sulfur City from Canada.

Today we start off with the new band from Brooklyn called Honey. Byron Coley says it reminds him on Cleveland. We also introduce The See No Evils from Leeds, England. 20 Watt Tombstone are from Wausau, WI, and Zig Zags are back with the new record. Heavy Times and King Khan have new singles. Leyla McCalla is back with a new album dense with Haitian and Creole folklore.
Today we bring you a few new names. First, we have Acapulco Lips, a trio from Seattle (although they have that modern San Francisco sound). Then we have Outtacontroller, a straight forward rock band from Halifax in Canada. Iza is a new band from Belgrade. Legendary Hawkwind are back with the new record the first one in four years. Finally, we say farewell to Guy Clark, one of the legendary Texas troubadours, who passed away last week at the age of 74.
The best news for this show is that Jody Stephens from Big Star and Luther Russel of Freewheelers formed a new band called Those Pretty Wrongs (after a Shakespeare’s poem). Their new record is made in Memphis Ardent Studios with the old Big Star equipment and while it definitely draws on that sound, it’s definitely not a cheap nostalgic take on a beloved band. It underlines on just how much Jody was integral to this band. We also have new music from Fort Wayne’s Left Lane Cruiser, and Pat Todd. We have no less than two supergroups today. Hard Working Americans are Todd Snider and Dave Schools from Widespread Panic together with and Neal Casal. Hard working Canadians are Tuns with Chris Murphy of Sloan, Matt Murphy of Super Friendz and Mike O’Neill of The Inbreds. We also check out Fifty Foot Combo from Belgium and The Hunches from Portland OR.

Today we hear some new music from the kings of lo-fi rock, Robert Pollard and Guided By Voices. He is as productive as ever. Following his footsteps in lo-fi, we introduce City Yelps from Leeds UK and Honey Radar from Indiana. Paul Kelly is back with a set of Shakespearean sonnets. Plastic Pals form Sweden have a new single. San Mikulec, a one-man band in Croatia is back with the new project called Snooze in Motion and we close everything with John Doe of X with his new album. Bob Hillman is a new name in show, he recorded an albums with the help of Peter Case. We pay respect to Jadranka Stojakovic, probably the greatest female character that ever came out of the Yugoslav pop and rock scene. She passed away yesterday.
The biggest thing today is the new record for Julie Christensen. She is back big time with her new band Stone Cupid and the new record called Cardinal. We remember her well from her stint with Chris D and Divine Horsemen band in the 80s. From San Francisco, The Forty Nineteens are back with a new rock’n’roll kick-in-the-gut called Rebooted. We also hear a segment from Pat Todd’s live show in Cleveland and we pay a tribute to the great Prince.
Today we bring you new music from Kid Cong Powers, Kill Devil Hills and September Girls. We have also a neat and exclusive Cleveland collaboration between Archie and The Bunkers and Cleveland Steamers. We introduce Levitation Room from Los Angeles with their psychedelic sound and Wink Burcham with his ultra cool approach to country rock. Finally, talking about country, we pay a tribute to the king… Merle Haggard has passed away and we remember him by playing some cover versions and a an original early track.
Lots of cool new garage rock today. We have the new music from Chicago’s Heavy Times and Italy’s Sultan Bathery. Hyper-productive Australians King Gizzard And The Lizard Wizard are back with yet another new record Nonagon Infinity. Four Minnesota ladies with years of experience in various band joined forces and formed a band called Beebe Gallini that focuses on garage rock covers. Detroit garage rock revivalists from the late 90s, The Go have a new live album. Webb Wilder, guitarist and actor from North Mississippi is back with the new album Mississippi Moderne. Our good Australian friend Jon S. Williams who we know from City of Cool is back with an excellent batch of new recordings and we check out his cover of Trevor Lucas’ Poor Ned. We wrap things out with the new Allysen Callery tune.
Today we start off with the new record for Cheap Trick. We also introduce new bands: Music Band from Nashville, Vaguess from Long Beach, Terminal Lovers from Cleveland, Rocket Bureau from Wisconsin and Australian Rolling Blackouts. ne of my favorite albums in the last couple of months is Lilly Hiatt’s Royal Blue along with its b-sides, so as a part of my experiment to see what it makes so good, I dug out some past work from the producer and keyboardist Adam Landry and drummer Jon Radford.
