Talking about Turkish sound, Los Angeles band Blaak Heat is inspired by it so much, that their new album sounds like it was recorded in Turkey. Acapulco LipsToday we bring you a few new names. First, we have Acapulco Lips, a trio from Seattle (although they have that modern San Francisco sound). Then we have Outtacontroller, a straight forward rock band from Halifax in Canada. Iza is a new band from Belgrade. Legendary Hawkwind are back with the new record the first one in four years. Finally, we say farewell to Guy Clark, one of the legendary Texas troubadours, who passed away last week at the age of 74.

Jody StephensThe best news for this show is that Jody Stephens from Big Star and Luther Russel of Freewheelers formed a new band called Those Pretty Wrongs (after a Shakespeare’s poem). Their new record is made in Memphis Ardent Studios with the old Big Star equipment and while it definitely draws on that sound, it’s definitely not a cheap nostalgic take on a beloved band. It underlines on just how much Jody was integral to this band. We also have new music from Fort Wayne’s Left Lane Cruiser, and Pat Todd. We have no less than two supergroups today. Hard Working Americans are Todd Snider and Dave Schools from Widespread Panic together with and Neal Casal. Hard working Canadians are Tuns with Chris Murphy of Sloan, Matt Murphy of Super Friendz and Mike O’Neill of The Inbreds. Plastic Pals form Sweden have a new single. San Mikulec, a one-man band in Croatia is back with the new project called Snooze in Motion and we close everything with John Doe of X with his new album. Bob Hillman is a new name in show, he recorded an albums with the help of Peter Case. We pay respect to Jadranka Stojakovic, probably the greatest female character that ever came out of the Yugoslav pop and rock scene. She passed away yesterday.

BeebeLots of cool new garage rock today. We have the new music from Chicago’s Heavy Times and Italy’s Sultan Bathery. Hyper-productive Australians King Gizzard And The Lizard Wizard are back with yet another new record Nonagon Infinity. Four Minnesota ladies with years of experience in various band joined forces and formed a band called Beebe Gallini that focuses on garage rock covers. Detroit garage rock revivalists from the late 90s, The Go have a new live album. Webb Wilder, guitarist and actor from North Mississippi is back with the new album Mississippi Moderne. Our good Australian friend Jon S. Williams who we know from City of Cool is back with an excellent batch of new recordings and we check out his cover of Trevor Lucas’ Poor Ned. We wrap things out with the new Allysen Callery tune.
