Today’s show is dedicated to Ronnie Spector and Rachel Nagy, two incredible singers that we lost recently. But before we get into our tributes to Ronnie and Rachel, we check out some new releases. Annie Keating from New York has a new album. Le Butcherettes and Death Valley Girls have a split single and we hear both sides. Gyasi from Nashville has a new single and Aoife O’Donovan from New York is a new name for us, and she released a new album and added an extra cover album consisting of songs from Springsteen’s Nebraska.

2021

First ‘regular’ show this year! We present the hottest in garage rock from recent weeks. The most exciting novelty is West Coat collaboration between Mike Watt and Cutthroat Brothers. They have released two new records recently. Another supergroup is Teeth of England from Memphis with Dave Sinclair behind the concept, Jack Oblivian behind the drums and Jason Rice from Faux Killas playing guitar. Strange Colours also has a new record and it’s a Toronto band lead by Andrew Moszynski who used to be with Deadly Snakes. Over in Australia we hear Power Supply from Melbourne. Over in Europe we check out Komodor from France and Roman Aul and Rosarys from Germany, who did a new record collaborating with the legendary Detroit producer Jim Diamond. From Switzerland, we check out the new tune by The Jackets. We finish the show with a little tribute to Bill Conway who used to play drums in Treat Her Right and Morphine. Conway passed away on December 19 last year.

Today we check out new music from Susanna Hoffs (who used to be in Bangles). She made a cover record. Successful Failures from Trenton, NJ and Loose Koozies from Detroit are back with new tunes. Italian powerpoppers Radio Days have a new single. We introduce Grand Splendid from Montreal in Canada and Warmbabies from Nice in France. We close the show with two obits related to visual art characters important to rock music. Photographer Mick Rock passed away on November 18th and painter Kosta Bunusevac passed away on September 8th.

Also in Chicago we check out a cool Prince cover from Local H. We pay respect to fallen heroes. Don Everly of The Everly Brothers passed away on August 22 this year. From Macedonia, we check out 21 Vek, their new single. Rebel Star operates in Serbia and Hungary and now collaborates with Zagreb’s Zvonka Obajdin. Also in Zagreb, Croatia, Nina Romi? is back with the new single. Koikoi is a new name for us, a four piece from Belgrade Serbia. Then we zig zag back to Zagreb and check out Confidential & The Secret Four. Then we end up all the way North in Slovenia and introduce Matthias von Stumberger und seine Jugend. We pay tributes to fallen Yugo rock representatives, Marina Tucakovi? who was a lyricist for many popular songs, singer songwriter and TV presenter Minja Subota. Tough Age from Canada has a playful new single. Also in Canada, Underwater Sunshine recorded a series of basement recordings in 1996-97 and now it’s all released finally. At the end of the show, we pay tribute to Steve Martin Caro and Tom Finn, former Left Banke members who both passed away a year ago.

Charlie Watts

Charlie Watts was a steady backbone of the greatest rock’n’roll band in the entire history of the world. This is a little tribute to him.
