Modern scene is overflown with excellent new releases in country rock and ladies are taking the lead big time. Today we check out newest music from Samantha Fish, Dori Freeman, Marianne Dissard and we introduce Emily Duff, Leah Blevins, Hannah Juanita and Hello Darlins. In the end, we pay a tribute to the originator of the musical genre covered today… To Nanci Griffith who passed away on August 13th at the age of 68. Charlie Watts

Charlie Watts was a steady backbone of the greatest rock’n’roll band in the entire history of the world. This is a little tribute to him. It consists of a playlist that several Internet sources quote as his best performances with The Rolling Stones. I also mixed in some of the rare things that perhaps better illustrate Charlie’s personal tastes outside of the band as well. Charlie Watts wasn’t just influential. He was inimitable.

Trippy show today with two Canadian bands: Possum from Toronto and Elevator To Hell from New Brunswick. Two tributes, one to Roky Erickson and the other one to Bubble Puppy. In particular, we hear the new version of Don’t Fall Down by Black Angels and Hot Smoke and Sassafras by Deniz Tek and newly reformed Rittenhouse Square, featuring Mitch Easter, Peter Holsapple, Will Rigby, Chris Stamey and Don Dixon. Today we have a couple of new releases from the States. From Milwaukee, we have the new band for us, Rexxx, over in Texas, Night Beats released a new album. Poison Boys from Chicago have a new single for Madd in Chico, CA. Now, the latter artists creates troubles for tracking them down, because we had them previously as Madde and as The Viles, but we’re still keeping an eye on them. In Australia, we check out Brenton Manser and The Disciples of Zen. Over in Italy, Radio Days has a new recrod. And lastly, in Slovenia, Lelee has just released probably the strongest album in Yugoslavia since the breakup of the country. Period! We finish the show with a tribute to Zoran Simjanovic, one of the pioneers of Yugo Rock and an important movie score composer who passed away on April 11 this year.

Speaking of Lemonheads, PA musician Fred Mascherino teamed up with Evan Dando co-writing a song together for his band The Color Fred.
