Varonas

Welcome to the first regular Lighthouse in 2023! We have new tunes from Trotsky Icepick, Starcrawler, Brower, Speedways and The Routes. Speedways from UK and Brower from New York have exceptionally catchy new tunes. We introduce Pointed Sticks from Canada, Rayland Baxter from Nashville and Varonas from Spain. We also have two tributes. One to Terry Hall, the vocalist of The Specials and leader of Fun Boy Three and the other to Massimo Savic, legendary Yugo rock singer. Both passed away last month.

A lovely update today with the new music from the legendary Robyn Hitchcock of the Soft Boys. Today we review the newest in on the psych scene. We check in with Sweden’s Motorpsycho who have a new record and also with Osees and Aquarian Blood over in Memphis. We introduce Double Cheese from La Rochelle in France, Chris Forsyth in Philly, Baby Cool from Brisbane, White Hills from NYC. Ghost Woman, fronted by Evan Uschenko is particularly an interesting project! The show is dedicated to a Yugoslav psych and prog rock pioneer Kornelije Bata Kovac who passed away recently at the age of 80.

Today we check out new music from Mo Troper from Portland OR, Ghost Funk Orchestra from NYC and Goat from Sweden. David Nance released a cover of Motorhead’s album Bomber. Daniel Romano has a new single with Ancient Shapes. Natalie Sweet and Brad Marino joined forces for some new tunes. Fernando Perdomo and Nick Berrling also joined forces into a new project called Life Boat. John Larson, who used to be with Marlowes, joined forces with The Silver Fields and we check out their new tunes. Show is dedicated to Shawn Cripps who used to be active with Limes in Memphis. He passed away recently.

Mark Lanegan

Sad news came to us on Tuesday that Mark Lanegan passed away. Today’s show is entirely dedicated to him and it contains my recording of his entire Cleveland show on November 5th 2014. He ended up liking the recording and a part of that recording was published it as an LP High, Wild and Free. Lanegan was featured at The Little Lighthouse very frequently and we will greatly miss his new music and incredible live shows.
