If you like round numbers, then you should be excited that this is the 800th episode of “shortened” Little Lighthouse, since I moved to Ohio. If you add over 200 episodes from Utah and Louisiana, we’re way pass 1000 episodes. Other than that, we give you another average Little Lighthouse show (which is way beyond anything in the podcast universe). We start off with veterans: Paul Weller and Richard Thompson. Another veteran is our good friend Mike Watt, who has a new album with his Italian friends Stefano Pilia and Paolo Mongardi. We also have new tunes by John Larson from Providence, Lava Fangs from Melgourne, Sticker Clun from Sydney, Magic Fig from San Francisco and Street Panther from Montreal. A special treat is a great new singer, debuting at The Little Lighthouse, Grace Cummings from Melbourne.

Billy F Gibbons from ZZ Top has a new solo record and so does Richard Thompson, the legendary guitarist of Fairport Convention. We also introduce some new names today: Dumb Punts from Melbourne Australia, Brandy from New York City and Ike Reilly from Chicago. Colleen Green is interesting, she released several cassette tapes in the past few years over in Los Angeles. As a loving tribute to John Wicks who passed away on October 7th, we play two songs by The Records. War on Women are live in Cleveland.

We start off with the new Spanish duet called Los Bengala. They have a new album called Incluso Festivos. Zach Jones is a new name from Portland, Maine. Rolin comes from Cleveland and runs a cool band called Nowehere. We also have some good old familiar faces – Rickie Lee Jones and Richard Thompson. His new album is produced by Jeff Tweedy and his old band Uncle Tupelo saw a release of an interesting tribute recently. We cull out Leeroy Stagger from that tribute. Today we say goodbye to Chris Squire, the bassist of Yes and The Syn.
We start of rocking hard. Mojo Magazine came up with the third instalment of their Heavy Nuggets and it sounds heavier than ever. Then we have a new name from Sweden – a hard rocking band Blues Pills fronted by Elin Larsson. Twin Peaks hail from Chicago and have a new album Wild Onion. Then we have a nice pair from Hozac – two singles and two new bands, 999999999 from the US and Southern Comfort from Australia, lead by Harriet Hudson and Angie Bermuda (also in Straight Arrows). One of the strongest albums this year so far is a duet by Lydia Lunch and Cypress Grove, entitle simply A Fistful of Desert Blues. They recorded a bunch of punky blues songs and it’s really strong. Then we have Richard Thompson with a new acoustic solo record in which he revisits his classics. But probably the coolest little bit today comes out in our Live in CLE segment. Today we have a brand new band from Cleveland called Monday Sound and it’s put together by Tom Fallon (New Salem Witch Hunters) and Brent Ferguson (Living Stereo). They covered no less than two Jackie DeShannon songs on their first gig ever and my recorder was handy…
Today we are saying the last goodbye to one of the true rock’n’roll legends. Reg Presley of the Troggs left this ugly world on Fabruary 4th this month. We listen to his music at the end of the show. We also have some new stuff. Mike Watt put out a record with his Italian friends Stefano Pilia and Andrea Belfi. The three of them make together a trio called Il Sogno Del Marinaro. Richard Thompson is also back with a new record called Electric, and it is one of the better ones he made in recent years. We also have two new bands today, Punks On Mars from Brooklyn, NY and the Schills from Portland, OR. Glttery Schills are ran by the Paisley Pop Records boss Jim Huie and this label also released a tribute to Bobby Sutliff recently. Today we continue listening to this record with a selection from a very interesting collaboration between Velvet Crush and Matthew Sweet.
