Today’s program is dedicated to Little Richard, Florian Schneider of Kraftwerk and Dave Greenfield from Stranglers, legendary rockers who we lost in a very short period of time. But the show must go on, and despite the losses, we gain with some exciting new releases. Our friends over at Blue Arrow Records have a brand new release with Stutter Steps from Pittsburgh. We also feature two singer songwriters for the first time at the show. First, Tommie Vaughn, the leader of Wall of Tom band and author of the Frankie Spencer trilogy. Second, Phranc’s guitarist Pie Smith is here with his new singer-songwriting project called simply Pie. Today we introduce the new singles from Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever and The Forty Nineteens. Julian Cope has a new album too. The Third Mind is a new supergroup with Dave Alvin of Blasters, Michael Jerome of Toadies and Victor Krummenacher and David Immerglück of Camper Van Beethoven. They have a new album of new covers of some classic psychedelic tunes. Similar concept, but with less known participants has been released in Chicago by Plastic Crimewave Syndicate. We also introduce a new artist for us, a singer songwriter from France, Theo Charaf. Today we also have two tributes, one to David Roback, legendary leader of Mazzy Star, Opal, Rainy Day and The Rain Parade who passed away recently. Another tribute is to Zoran Modli, legendary Yugoslav radio DJ who vigorously promoted unsigned bands throughout the 80s.

Welcome to the first regular show in 2020. We’re loaded with the new stuff. We have the new single for Ruby The Hatchet. These hard rocking Philly folks released a cover of Uriah Heep and also visited Cleveland, so we have them in our Live in Cleveland segment. On the power pop side of things, we hear the new single from Mo Troper over in Portland and one of the relatively new tracks from his fellow Oregonian Stan McMahon. Covering my old haunts, we introduce Triggers and Slips from Salt Lake City and Bipolaroid from Louisiana. Although, the latter band will confuse you, they sound like they’re from UK circa ’67. We also have recent tunes from Impulsive Hearts over in Chicago and Madd (or are they The Viles now?!) from California. One of the bands that fell through the cracks last year, Coke Dares from Bloomington IN resurfaces today. We close the show with two tributes to the heroes that we lost in the battle of life.
